Self-testing

The website Zwanger Wijzer can help you prepare for your pregnancy. You can use an anonymous questionnaire to test whether you or your partner have any health risks that could affect your pregnancy or the pregnancy itself.

 

The questionnaire takes an average of 10 minutes to complete.

Folic acid
  • Take 0.4–0.5 mg folic acid daily for one month before stopping contraception.

  • This reduces the risk of spina bifida or other abnormalities.

Weight
  • Being underweight (BMI <18.5) or overweight (BMI >30) can affect fertility.

Smoking, alcohol and drugs

Medication
  • Not all medications are safe when trying to conceive. Discuss with your doctor or pharmacist which medications are suitable.

Work
